This is a re-post from one of my earlier posts on vision. If you want to know why vision matter read this post to find out. When you finish, you will be inspired and empowered to move forward with your unique vision.
Vision matters because it can generate hope in the midst of despair and provide comfort when things are chaotic. It can empower you to overcome the limitations of what the eyes see as impossible. It can open your mind and heart to what faith knows is possible. Vision matters because God says it matters.
Here are five reasons why vision matters. Live your vision by them and your life will never be the same.
1. Vision Energizes Purpose
You were created with an original purpose in mind. The reason that you are alive right now, the reason that you have gone through everything you have gone through and the reason that the enemy could not take you out is evidence God has a greater purpose for your life.
You must fight through everything and everyone that is trying to keep you from living your purpose. The enemy is trying his best to keep you in the dark about your true purpose.
He wants you to focus on your past instead of looking to your promised future. He wants you to live life discouraged and defeated instead of encouraged and empowered. A vision from God will energize you to live above the enemy’s attack against your purpose.
2. Vision Enlivens Confidence
I want you to read Ephesians 2:10 where you are called His workmanship. I want you to say out loud, “I am God’s workmanship.” Say it like you believe it! Say it with authority! Say it with absolute confidence even if you don’t feel it!
Can you really comprehend what you just declared in the atmosphere? Do you really understand what this means? It means you have an unwavering confidence that you were designed specifically by God to accomplish His vision for your life. It is up to you whether you stay where you are or begin to move with confidence towards your unique vision.
3. Vision Empowers Success
The most common problem I find today when talking to people is that they do not have a clearly defined vision that gives them direction. If you asked what success would look like for them, many would find it difficult to answer with specific details.
I challenge individuals with these questions. How can you live successfully if you don’t know God’s vision for your life? What is your picture of true success? Are you able to describe your vision in vivid detail as it would look in complete success?
If you cannot answer each question with specific details, you have some work to do. You have to spend some quality time seeking God in prayer and mediating on His Word to realize your true vision and how to live it successfully.
4. Vision Exposes Opportunities
Opportunities aren’t stumbled upon, they are created! God created them for you, before you were ever born. Your opportunities for success await your full participation. So go out and begin to put your vision in action and watch the new opportunities spring up.
Meet new people, take a class on a new subject, visit a new place, sit down and write out that business plan, plan a vision retreat, update your resume and send it out then follow-up with the people you have sent it to.
In other words, live life on purpose! Don’t wait for your big break; live your own break. Don’t wait for the right company to hire you; create your own company. Don’t sit back and wait for others approval; do what you know you need to do. Define what vision success means for you and then chart out a path to reach that success. You will be glad you did!
5. Vision Encourages Forward Movement
You were designed to have a vision to propel you forward in living a successful life. I call it Vision Impact Living, meaning you are intentionally living your unique vision in every area of life so that your life makes an impact in the world.
Allow God to direct your life. Trust Him to stir the ship. You can no longer blame your family, friends, the government, your job, where you were born, or the economy for where you are in life. It’s up to you to do what you need to do to position yourself for vision success.
Understand that your vision grows and changes over time. What is right for you now may develop into something different in a few years. By being clear on what is deeply important to you and pursuing it passionately will help you grow and develop into the person God destined you to be.
As you tirelessly work on becoming a better person each day, you will eventually find yourself ready and prepared for the highest version of your vision. It is an amazing journey!

Good stuff, Bernard. The supernatural gift of being created by God to be able to visualize and see our potential in this world is a gift worth developing… but it won’t happen sitting on the couch… Great encouragement to make a difference. Thanks.
Bernard Haynes says
Thanks, Floyd. You are right, you can’t get anything sitting on the couch. The only thing you get is butt sores. We have to put feet to our faith.

You are right Dave. I had to resist a lie of the enemy today. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy the vision that God designed for our lives. But, Christ said, I am come that you have life and life more abundant.

I agree, vision is really important. From a church leadership standpoint I have noticed that when a pastor/church leader doesn’t have vision the people tend to lose their momentum and their desire to follow that leader. There is something about someone who has a great vision that just makes you want to follow them.
Bernard Haynes says
Caleb, you are correct. A clear and compelling vision that is communicated to the people constantly and consistently is very important. I have seen people and organizations fail at what they wanted to do because of not doing the things I listed above.

We forfeit so many blessings by not knowing the word of God! So many promises can be found for those who call God, Lord.
He is for us! What greater thing is there than that! It should motivate us to take chances.
1 John 4:4
Great post!

TC, thanks. You are right. When we know God’s Word, we have the ammunition to live out our vision.
